Thank You to School Council Volunteers!
In honour of National Volunteer Week, KPR schools are pleased to recognize the outstanding contributions of volunteers. By sharing their perspectives and advocating for students, School Council volunteers ensure schools remain responsive to the needs of every family.
Sabrina Annis from Waverley PS, Krystle Moore from Charles Bowman PS, Amelia Montgomery from Terry Fox PS, Krystal Zavitz from Smithfield PS, Devon Anger from Kawartha Heights PS and Stacey Fritsch from North Hope Central PS, are School Council volunteers making significant contributions through dedication and leadership.
Sabrina served on the Waverley PS School Council as Treasurer for two years, helping ensure resources are used effectively to benefit students, and is now the School Council Chair. She demonstrates strong leadership, fosters collaboration and encourages parent engagement.
She has also been an active member of the Graduation Committee, consistently volunteers her time to organize and support hot lunch programs and coordinates school-wide fundraisers that enhance opportunities for all students.
Krystle’s dedication and leadership have made a profound impact on the Charles Bowman school community. She generously gives her time and energy by running the hot lunch program, leading the Fundraising Team, and serving as Chairperson of the School Council. Krystle’s wonderful commitment to supporting and organizing initiatives consistently enriches student experiences and helps create meaningful opportunities that benefit all learners.
Amelia consistently advocates in support of Terry Fox PS students, with the goal of ensuring they are meaningfully included in decisions that affect their school experience. She encourages School Council to broaden its perspective and to prioritize the needs of all students and families. She has also played a central role in supporting key fundraising initiatives for the Terry Fox PS community that directly enhance the nutrition program and school improvement projects, enabling all students, regardless of circumstance, to have equitable access to nutritious food and a welcoming, engaging learning environment.
Krystal gives selflessly to the Smithfield PS community. She is an exceptional organizer and knows how to rally those around her to make many things happen within a small school community. In addition to being Chairperson of School Council, she coordinates the nutrition program, she watered the school’s new willows last summer, and she volunteers as much as she can with events and trips. She can be found at school every Wednesday morning for the breakfast program and in the afternoon to hand out pizza slices and milk cartons to students!
Devon has been highly committed to her role as Chairperson of the Kawartha Heights PS School Council for the last few years. She is loved by students and staff and is dedicated to the betterment of students and the school community, spending countless hours volunteering her time for fundraising events, hot lunches and everything in between. Behind the scenes she is just as active, taking initiative to coordinate projects, and working tirelessly to make events and activities planned throughout the school year a huge success.Â
Stacey puts a tremendous amount of time and energy into making sure the students at North Hope PS have a safe learning environment, have access to the tools they need for a successful learning experience, and ensures there are fun and inclusive opportunities for the kids at the same time! She has been on School Council for many years, as both a parent and a staff member, with a dedicated focus to ensuring everything is just right for the students and the school community.
Thank you Sabrina, Krystle, Amelia, Krystal, Devon and Stacey for your leadership, partnership, and commitment to public education!
